Picturing the Truth

When you enter the online dating universe for the first time, your nerves are probably a bit high and you likely have no real idea what to expect from such an environment. You are used to years of meeting people in bars and other social situations for hookups. The idea of scoring sexual fun via the internet is likely a bit bizarre when you first sign on. You just have to remember that truly everybody is doing it nowadays, even senior citizens, so you need to get on the ball. It is a new world of sexual liberation and opportunity thanks almost entirely to the internet. But the whole thing definitely takes some getting used to. One of the first lessons you need to learn is about pictures on your profile. They need to be good. And by good, we mean accurate, complete and current.

Profile

A lot of people inexplicably get the picture thing very, very wrong. It is a curious error to make, especially when so many of the people screwing up happen to be very good looking. To leave people sifting through the online dating profiles thinking you are actually less hot than you really are is a terrible waste. Some people will actually claim they put less flattering pictures up deliberately so that the in-person meeting will leave the other person being overly impressed with the real them. This is asinine and taking an unnecessary risk. Online dating is full of competition, so you need to show as accurate a depiction of yourself as possible. And a full-on face shot, not some weird angled one. With proper lighting. And from the past six months.

People are looking for relationships from online dating, and they often do not have time to waste. Putting accurate pictures of yourself up should not be so difficult in this digital camera age. Oh, and one more thing: people want to see that you have teeth and are not a depressed loner, so smile already!
